The folks at Nullriver have released a GUI installer that makes installing unsupported third party iPhone applications painless and fairly safe. AppTapInstaller leads you step by step through the process, which doesn't require using the terminal.

A group of developers has released a very early beta of Apollo IM, the first native AIM client for the iPhone. It's mostly a usability test, but you can log on to AIM and chat. Apollo IM can be installed using Installer.app.
