HDR Max Contest to win a MacBook Pro

Ariea, the developers of HDR Max, and Stuck In Customs have a new contest in which you can win a MacBook Pro or a free license for HDR Max.

Over the next several weeks, Ariea will be accepting entries in a contest for the best photo’s processed with HDR MAX. All you have to do is download the free trial of HDR MAX and process up to three photo’s and submit them. After the deadline, all entries will be reviewed, and the winners will be contacted and announced at their site.

  • All entries should be sent to submissions@ariea.com.
  • Entries should be submitted in the JPEG format.
  • Each image should be named using the yourname_filename.jpg
    format.

  • All entries must contain orginal work.
  • The deadline for submissions is January 31st, 2009 at 11:59pm PST.

Prizes:

  • 1st prize is a new 15″ MacBook Pro 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo.

  • 2nd and 3rd prize is a free copy of HDR MAX.

Call for Entries: RiffRumble X Online Song Collaboration Contest

Fetch Softworks Awards MacBook, iPods to Back To School Contest Winners

Etna, NH — Fetch Softworks is pleased to announce the winners of an Apple MacBook and four iPod nanos in the “Take Fetch Back To School” essay contest. The winners range from a high school student in Virginia to a university newspaper production chief in California, and their contest entries describe using Fetch in a wide variety of ways.

Jejoong Yoo, a graduate student at the University of Wisconsin Madison, uses Fetch’s Kerberos support and Mirror command to synchronize enormous data sets with the National Center for Suppercomputing Applications (NCSA) Mass Storage system. Web designer and graduate student Tracy Hall-Ingram uses Fetch to publish websites and distribute image and project files at Eastern Illinois University. Timothy Burke, the production chief of the San Jose State University Daily Spartan, “calls the dog” every evening to get the campus newspaper to the printer. And Ashish Makadia, a high school student at Virginia’s Maggie L. Walker Governor’s School for Government and International Studies, used Fetch to collaborate with classmates to create a virtual museum. Each of these winners will recive a new Apple iPod nano (8GB, video), $100 in cash, and a Fetch plush toy.

The grand prize Apple MacBook (Black) was won by Peter Yang, a graduate student at Georgia Institute of Technology who has used Fetch since high school. In college he used it to access schoolwork and build a website for Engineers Without Borders. Now in graduate school, he uses Fetch to transfer microscopy and spectrophotometry data. “Fetch’s reliability and support have been superb,” Peter wrote. “It has always sat in my Dock, it sits in my Dashboard and it is one of the first things I install on any new Mac that I come across.” In addition to the MacBook, Peter will receive $750 in cash and a Fetch plush toy.

MacMod.com Announces The 4th Annual Great Mac Mod Challenge 2007

(August 1, 2007) - MacMod.com, a recognized internet source for free technical news and advice on the latest techniques and products for upgrading and modifying Apple products, today announced the rules and entry requirements for “The Great Mac Mod Challenge 2007″ an annual competition in which Apple technology owners are recognized in various categories for their creativity and ingenuity in the upgrades and modifications made to their systems to improve performance, appearance, and functionality. Coinciding with the contest, which begins taking entries August 1st, the month of August has been designated “Modify Your Mac Month.”

The event attracts some of the most talented and enthusiastic Mac users around the world and each year the modifications raise the bar higher. Memorable winners of challenges past include the Falcon Mac Mini, Necronomicon G4, the iTablet, a wooden iPod, and the M3 robotic Mini.

“Modders” may submit as many mods as they like.
