M-Audio KeyStation 49E still in short supply
There seems to be quite a shortage of M-Audio KeyStations. I’ve had one on order from MacMall (who still advertises them for $79) since Feb. 2. When I called again today to check on my order, I was told that they’re backordered until Mar. 31 and that there are over 600 still backordered.
I had originally ordered one from the Apple Store, but I cancelled that order when I saw that it was due to ship Mar. 9 and MacMall claimed to be able to ship it the following week and they were selling it for $20 less.
Has anyone received their KeyStation yet?
Update: I just called the Apple store and was given a shipping time of 4-6 weeks.

I think your best bet (if it’s possible) is to get one at an Apple Store. When I went to my local Apple Store, they didn’t have any 49e’s in stock. I called back the next day and they had the M-Audio Radium-49 in stock (it’s $150). I got that instead and have been happy with it so far.

I had to wait over 9 weeks for my Edirol PCR-30 from the Apple Store - I am guessing the popularity of Garageband is chewing up supply of all the cheaper keyboards. Hang in there.

Our order through Apple, placed on 2/13/2004, was received by FedEx yesterday. Scheduled for delivery, 2/28/2004…

I order mine on Jan. 14th and I got it on Jan. 24th. The had delays even then. Apple shipped iLife and the keyboard as separate shipments and even though I chose the free 5 day shipping Apple upgraded me to second day air. The shipping costs are something to consider when getting the keyboard elsewhere.
At the time I had no other options for the keystation 49E. No one else had them for sale….not even M-Audio. The keyboard is great for GarageBand but it really shines in Reason 2.5, since the keyboard itself allows you to remap the buttons and sliders to any midi control channel you can do some pretty cool things in programs that support them…like reason. For a real retro meets the new age use it with Arturia Moog Modular!

I ordered mine from Macmall on January 12th and am still waiting. Everytime I call they give me a different date.
