Mac Games and More has published its first game for Mac OS X. The game is a free, video poker game called, “UglyPoker,” and was made possible by a collaboration of independent developers, http://www.phelios.com, http://www.winterwolves.com, and the designers at http://willbe.planet-d.net/ . UglyPoker was made with the game engine, PTK.

“UglyPoker is an ugly, straightforward video poker game for your Macintosh. Yes, “ugly” is subjective and some will find this game extremely ugly and some will find it not very ugly — it actually started out extremely ugly and now it’s less so (to us). Ugly, not ugly, it’s definitely a video poker game for Mac. On the other hand, it’s beautiful because it contains NO adware or spyware, and it’s free.

The only difference with UglyPoker compared to a standard Video Poker, (to which most people are accustomed), is in the face cards: they are slightly different in UglyPoker because in place of using the typical Ace, King, Queen and Jack, UglyPoker uses the Francophone version 1, R(oi), D(ame), and V(alet) respectively. This may look a bit unusual to some people, however, most players will find that it takes little time to become familiar with it.”
