How many hard disks can be attached to a macintosh system?

hi all
I am working on G4 Apple Macintosh system.
I want to know that How many hard disks can i attach to a Macintosh System?
Plz tell me the extreme limit?

Internal drives

If you're talking about internal drives, a standard G4 system has two IDE/ATAPI controllers, each can take two devices. Normally one is used for the hard drive and the other is used for a DVD or CD drive. My G4 minitower has 2 internal hard drives, a SuperDrive, and a zip drive.

For external drives, you can go up to the limit for USB or FireWire devices.
