Over the holidays I got interested in helping my niece with a stop-motion project. iStopMotion has a very polished look, but it’s incredibly buggy. It required Forced Quits constantly, and the main timeline frame would stop responding to mouse interactions. Quite frankly, it’s an embarassment. Fortunately they offer a free short-term trial.
If you’re interested in stop-motion, Frame Thief http://www.framethief.com/ is a much more solid product. It doesn’t have the brushed aluminum look, but it doesn’t crash and seems to be on par feature-wise with iStopMotion. And they too offer a free short-term trial.
Best of luck!
