Wiped the iPod clean, then exitted the Updater, ejected, and re-attached. iTunes dutifully began restoring my library, and the iTMS gave me the option to download 13 "Free songs". What isn't mentioned in the article, or anywhere else that I can find, is that you don't get to choose 13 songs. Instead, it's a static "album" of "MoTown Hits" or something like that. Since I'm not a fan, this did me no good. I just tried this out. But the free offer comes with a double-your-money-back if you aren't satisfied, so I don't see any reason to complain.
