Give us a Tablet Mac Petition
One ingenious Mac user’s initiative to build a Tablet Mac himself has inspired me to put up the online petition Apple, give us a Tablet Mac, please.
The goal is to show Apple (and that means Steve), that there are more than enough potential Tablet Mac users to warrant a product. Heck, some of us even rip their iBooks apart and do it themselves.
Only less than a week online, we have already collected more than 400 signatures and have found some interesting facts through the attached survey. For example a whopping 30.5% of the undersigned would be the first time Mac users and another 6.3% that already bought a Tablet PC would switch to a Mac if given a choice.

I can see a few specialized reasons to have a tablet PC, but none of them warrant a new product.

What’s the reason to want a tablet PC? Seriously?
There are only a few specialized places that can really make use of one. And that market, small as it is, is already covered by the PC tablet makers.
Even more important - it doesn’t fit into Apples main thrust. In case you didn’t notice - Apple is going for the home user, and home media. A tablet PC is about as necessary as a wart in that environment.

I’d buy an apple tablet, definitely,
but I’d rather seem them do a phone-pda-ipod device.

I own a TabletPC (a Motion), and let me tell you, it is my hands-down favorite tool for web-browsing, reading documents or similar uses. Except for drawing, it isn’t very useful for any kind of data entry (even ink notes get tiresome after a while). But settling into my easy chair with it for a browsing session is a sheer delight! The ergonomics are superior to using a laptop under the same conditions.

A mac tablet is my dream. The ergonomics alone make it desirable. The mac is marketed to creative people, the tablet would be perfect for them.
