PC-Mac PasswordVault v4.0 offers simplified interface and iPod Shuffle auto-sync
ADELAIDE, AUSTRALIA — January 24, 2005 — Lava Software is now shipping PC-Mac PasswordVault v4.0, a simple and practical password manager for both individuals as well as enterprises requiring cross-platform compatibility (Windows, MacOS and Linux) and secure password data backup, recovery and distribution. The portable version runs directly off USB flash drives, such as the iPod Shuffle, providing users with secure access to their website usernames and passwords, Internet banking and other data when they’re on the road, as well as the convenience of auto-synchronization of data when they return to their desktop computer.
This new version offers a simplified and graphically enhanced user interface to make operation easier and more intuitive, an online news function to automatically keep users informed of software updates, full masking of passwords, an expanded help menu, a random password generator which can be customized to generate alphanumeric, numeric and hexadecimal passwords up to 1000 characters in size, better Linux performance, and improved import and export control of password data. It is a free upgrade for all users of previous versions.
PC-Mac PasswordVault protects user data using very strong 896-bit encryption, yet provides convenient access to it via a simple master password. If the user forgets their master password, they can answer a series of customized questions they previously entered to access their data - this simple and highly effective Master Password Recovery System (MPRS) is unique to PC-Mac PasswordVault. Another benefit of the MPRS is that users can safely change their master password on a regular basis, further enhancing security.
The free Lite Edition of PC-Mac PasswordVault v4.0 is available for immediate download from http://www.lavasoftware.com and supports up to 15 services, whilst the Standard Edition supports any number of services. Individual licenses of the Standard Edition are priced at USD19.95 each and allow the user to concurrently run two copies of the software, and purchasers get download access to the current version of the software for all platforms (both desktop and portable USB flash drive versions), as well as free upgrades for one year. Site licenses for companies, universities and other organizations are available from USD99.00. OEM pricing, customization and rebranding options are available on request.
