Big Fish Games Launches Comprehensive Mac Games Business
More than twenty of the top PC game downloads in the casual game industry now available for Mac users
Seattle, WA, April 4, 2006 — Big Fish Games (www.bigfishgames.com), a leading distributor of casual games, today announced they have expanded their reach from PC games to include a comprehensive Mac games section. At launch, more than twenty titles will be available for Mac users to download. All games come with one hour of free game play and can be purchased for $19.99. The selection of games includes top titles in the puzzle, mahjong, card, action and arcade genres and can be downloaded at http://www.bigfishgames.com/mac/games.html .
While the Mac audience is smaller than the PC audience, Mac fans are more likely to use their computer for entertainment. Currently, there are few sources on the internet for high-quality casual games for the Mac, however many developers are starting to produce games for both the PC and Mac platforms. “Mac users are some of the most dedicated of all casual gamers,” said Cory Finnell, Senior Vice President of Big Fish Games. “We have had countless requests for a robust Mac games section from our customers and are proud to launch a new section with the top games for Mac. Mac games are immediately available for download and include a free one hour trial.”
Game developers with titles participating in this release include Reflexive Entertainment, Toybox, Funpause, Hipsoft, Grubby Games, and Big Fish Studios. “We are thrilled that we now have a strong new distributor for our games on the Mac platform,” said Michael Mei at Reflexive Entertainment, Inc. “Big Fish Games has always been a great partner and visionary in the casual game space, and it’s a smart move for them to offer games to this prime audience.”
Mystery Case Files: Huntsville, the top selling casual PC game of 2005, will be the lead feature on the new Mac Games site and is followed by other smash hits like Mahjong Towers Eternity, Big Kahuna Reef, Atlantis, Ricochet Extreme, and Flip Words. Big Fish Games also announced they are matching the “A New Game Every Day” pledge for PC games with a new “A New Game Every Week” promise to Mac users for the new Mac games section. Additional games planned for 2006 are from a variety of additional well know developers such as Popcap, Gamehouse, and Playfirst.
