Help!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can anyone tell me if I can do the following?

Download midi information from my Roland R-5 drummer directly to a mac laptop that has garage band.

I only wish to send and retrieve to my drummer from the mac. I do not wish to use the mac to run the drummer.

I have been using floppy discs for years via an Aelsis Data disc and I wish to eliminate the data disc from on stage. I am frequently having problems losing information from my floppies and now I hope there is another way to do this.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.
