Review: Altec Lansing inMotion IM11
When I got my new iPod I shopped around for a good speaker system & docking cradle. I ended up choosing Altec Lansing's inMotion IM11. Although the sound isn't as impressive as the iPod HiFi and other high end systems, it's pretty good for general indoor use. At $99, it's one of the more reasonably priced systems.
The inMotion is smaller & lighter than most iPod speakers and it has a standard iPod dock connector with adapters to hold all iPod models including the nano & video models. There's also an AUX input to connect other MP3 players. The inMotion can work with either 4 AA batteries or an AC adapter. With an AC adapter it charges the iPod. It also includes a USB cable that can be used to dock with a computer, although the speakers can't be powered from the USB port. The sound quality is OK, about the same as most boomboxes. There's some distortion at high volume levels, though.
If you want a compact, reasonably priced speaker and don't need earth-shaking bass, the inMotion is a good choice.
