The Apple Store in Fort Lauderdale’s Galleria Mall had their grand opening at 10AM today, attracting Apple fans from all over South Florida.
To control the crowd, visitors first had to line up to get a ticket in the mall’s garage. After you got the ticket, a certain number of people were allowed to enter the mall at a time, where you had to stand in another line. Finally, you got to line up right outside the store’s entrance.
The store itself is much larger than the Boca Raton store, with the Genius Bar occupying the entire back wall. Half of one wall was occupied by iPod accessories, and the opposite side displayed accessories, external drives, and software. The front portion of the store had every Mac model, AppleTV, and iPods along both walls and the center tables. Near the back of the store was a children’s area with a low table and educational games.
Like most Apple stores, there is no cashier. Instead employees walk around with PDAs that can write up sales and accept payments.
