Apple to Canada: Drop Dead [updated]

Appletell reports that the iPhone is to be released in Mexico later this year. Although the iPhone is already available in several European countries, Apple still hasn’t announced a release in Canada. Much of the blame can be placed on Canadian carriers such as Rogers that don’t offer flat rate data plans and charge a lot more than US carriers.

Update: a petition has been launched requesting Apple & Rogers to bring the iPhone to Canada.

I have also heard 2 or 3 times that the rights to the name iPhone are owned by someone other than Apple in Canada. This might be another reason why we still don’t have the iPhone in Canada.

Unfortunately I didn’t bookmark the stories otherwise I would provide a link.
