San Francisco, CA — March 10, 2010 — SmileOnMyMac has released TextExpander 3.0, a new version of its customizable typing shortcut tool for Mac OS X. With TextExpander, users can define abbreviations for frequently-used text strings and images, also known as snippets. When an abbreviation is typed, it expands automatically to the full snippet.

The new version of TextExpander introduces features to make it easier to create and edit snippets. Users can define a keyboard combination, also known as a hotkey, to open a quick entry window for snippet creation. The last-expanded snippet can also be edited via a hotkey, making it easier to keep snippet content updated.

TextExpander 3 features new “fill-in” snippets. A fill-in snippet can have multiple blank fields in the snippet content that prompt for additional information to be entered manually. For example, a user can invoke a fill-in snippet for a receipt and proceed to fill in the name, product, and order number for the recipient.

New options for searching and finding snippets have been added. Users can now locate snippets via a search field in the menu bar. They can also type a few letters and then display a list of suggested matching snippets by invoking a hotkey.

TextExpander is no longer a system preference pane. The new version is an application, with an enhanced but familiar user interface. Users will still be able to see how much time they’ve saved using TextExpander. TextExpander 3 runs on Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) only.

For users with more than one Mac, TextExpander now offers two ways to sync snippets: MobileMe and Dropbox. With a single-user license, an individual user may install and use TextExpander on multiple computers, provided they are used primarily by that individual.

A 30-day fully-functioning demo of TextExpander can be downloaded at
http://www.smileonmymac.com/textexpander/download.html. The price is $34.95. A Family Pack license is available for $44.95, which covers up to five computers in one household. Upgrades from earlier versions of TextExpander are $15.00, and free to users who purchased after November 1, 2009.

“TextExpander users are really enthusiastic and creative, so we get lots of great feature requests.” said Greg Scown, co-founder of SmileOnMyMac. “We’ve done our best to incorporate most of them in TextExpander 3.0, while retaining TextExpander’s ease-of-use.”

What’s new in TextExpander 3.0:

  • Converted from preference pane to application
  • Specify multiple blank fields in a snippet for variable content to be filled in manually
  • Search snippets from the menu bar
  • Insert Tab and Return in snippets
  • Enter new abbreviations quickly via hotkey
  • Edit the last-expanded snippet via hotkey
  • Built-in support for synchronization via Dropbox
  • Correct double caps; ensure initial caps at the beginning of a sentence
  • Automatic updates within the application (Sparkle)

TextExpander features:

  • Insert standard greetings, text, and signatures, including formatted text and pictures
  • Save keystrokes by typing short abbreviations to get long snippets
  • Correct typos automatically
  • Organize snippets into groups
  • Add snippet groups from external files and online sources
  • HTML, CSS, Autocorrect, Accented Word, Symbol snippet groups included
  • Internet Productivity snippet group (shorten long URLs automatically)
  • Sync snippets via MobileMe and Dropbox
  • Insert the current date and time in any format you prefer
  • Date/time math (add or subtract years, months, days, hours, minutes, seconds from current date and time)
  • Print snippets by group
  • Position the cursor wherever you want in your expanded snippet; use fill-ins for snippets with multiple blank fields for variable content
  • For programmers, make editor-independent code templates; invoke AppleScripts and shell scripts
  • Available in English, German, French, Japanese and Italian

Requirements:

  • TextExpander 3.0 requires Mac OS X 10.6 and above

Rastatt, Germany – Codewave Software Michael Descher is very pleased to announce that MyTunesRSS has been successfully introduced at Jazz at Lincoln Center (JALC) for digital music library sharing. MyTunesRSS was selected from the pool of music sharing tools because of its advantageous features and overall usability.

“MyTunesRSS has been invaluable to Jazz at Lincoln Center’s ability to share its music,” said Phil Cuykendall, Associate of Information Technology at JALC. “It allows all of our employees to listen to the music we have in our digital music library, whether they are in the office or on the road, and its integration with Yoics also allows us to share our MyTunesRSS library with teachers, students, or anyone else working with our organization. Jazz at Lincoln center has over 100 users using different platforms (Mac OS X, Windows), and MyTunesRSS’ web-based platform-independent interface makes accessing the music library easy.

Also, its MySQL database feature enables us to continue to build our already large library (25,000 mp3s) without noticeable performance degradation. Adding music to the music library as easy as ripping a CD directly into ‘Watch Folders’ and waiting for automatically scheduled updates, making library building simple. And despite our library’s size, users have noted that MyTunessRSS’ very simple web interface and great search features makes specific tracks or artists easy to find. In short, MyTunesRSS’ combination of robust features and user-friendly interface has made Jazz at Lincoln Center’s music library a success.”

MyTunesRSS is a Media Server that makes iTunes libraries or simple watch folders available on a local or corporate network, or even over the internet. You can browse the complete music collection in a web browser and even play music or videos right inside an embedded Flash player.

MyTunesRSS can create RSS feeds and playlists from any album, artist or search result. Depending upon their permissions, users can create regular and smart playlists, add tags to the music collection, upload new media files and use transcoders to convert music stored on the server to other formats on-the-fly. The user authentication and security management features LDAP integration, which protects the media library from unauthorized access. Encrypted URLs make it easy to restrict sharing to specific tracks or playlists and a remote API lets programmers integrate MyTunesRSS into any existing application.

Pricing and Availability:
A 30-day trial version is available for download. A MyTunesRSS license can be purchased for only 15 EUR.

Madison, Wisconsin – Independent software developer Steve Glinberg today is pleased to announce the release of 123 Color by KidCalc, a companion app to his top ranked math learning game for iPhone and iPod touch. 123 Color is a coloring book with a unique twist: 123 Color teaches numbers, upper and lower case letters, shapes, and colors as kids play.

123 Color is brought to you by the creator of KidCalc 7-in-1 Math Fun, the top selling math learning game which is currently being feature on Apple’s list of Apps for Kids. KidCalc 7-in-1 Math Fun was the #1 ranked education app in October, 2009, and is presently ranked #10 in the education category.

123 Color not only engages and entertains children with beautiful artwork, fun sound effects, rich music and the challenge of painting 32 pictures, but it also teaches language skills with the help of clear, crisp voice-overs by male and female adult native speakers of English and Spanish. Parents can select the English or Spanish alphabet to be displayed and spoken, and parents can choose numbers to be spoken either in English or Spanish, or in English and Spanish together.

KidCalc’s developer, Steve Glinberg, has created a new app that, like his first app, perfectly balances entertainment value, capturing and holding kids’ attention, with educational value. 123 Color excites and engages kids, it makes learning fun and easy, and it enables parents to feel great about the games their children want to play.

123 Color’s learning activities challenge children to color segments of one of 32 drawings by finding and touching the properly numbered or lettered color on the color pallet. When letters and numbers are touched, voice-overs in the selected language or languages are played. Fun sound effects are also heard each time the drawing is touched, and when a drawing is complete children are rewarded with sounding trumpets, animated musical notes, and a chance to sing along with one of the 17 children’s songs included.

“There is so much that we can now do as educational software developers given these great new tools that we couldn’t do before. The high-technology mobile devices we have today, such as the iPhone and iPod touch, and soon the iPad, hold unprecedented and boundless potential as tools for learning. With 123 Color I aimed to provide children with an immersive rich and exciting multimedia experience with plenty to touch, see and hear, and to make learning a language something children don’t even notice they are doing as they play 123 Color. Watching my daughter color in the drawings with determination, and then quickly jump to snapping her fingers, dancing and singing along with the music after she completes each one, I get a strong sense that I have accomplished my goals.”

123 Color teaches the following skills:
* Number recognition by sight and sound
* Upper and lower case letter recognition by sight and sound
* English and Spanish number and letter pronunciations
* Creative expression – a mode where any color can be used to color the drawing

Additional features include:
* Currently 32 pages of engaging and colorful drawings
* 7 or 30 color pallet (7 for young children)
* Choice of one or two languages to be spoken
* 17 songs included
* 23 sound effects included
* Songs and sound effects can be enabled or disabled individually or all at once
* Voice-overs speaking numbers and letters can be enabled or disabled
* Save drawings to camera roll
* Email pictures to friends and family without leaving 123 Color

Songs include:
* Clementine
* London Bridges
* Mary Had A Little Lamb
* Oh Susanna
* Three Blind Mice
* The Wheels On The Bus
* I’ve Been Working On The Railroad
* Many more

In addition to teaching English or Spanish language skills to children in their native language, 123 Color is also a powerful tool for introducing children to Spanish or English as a foreign language.

Device Requirements:
* iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad
* Requires iPhone OS 3.0 or later
* 8.0 MB

Pricing and Availability:
123 Color by KidCalc for iPhone and iPod touch is available on sale for $.99 (USD) in the App Store in the Education category. Review copies are available upon request.

Tokyo, Japan – Announcing that Limited Securities, the developers of iCurrency Plus, has launched a one of a kind app. The application tracks and evaluates currency exchange rates, as well as provides trends, graphs and a currency conversion calculator. iCurrency Plus is the only app on the market that can send push notifications of changes in currency rates, too. It is the perfect example of ‘Simplicity to the Extreme’.

What do travelers, Forex and precious metal traders all have in common? Exchange rates. Changes in currencies, whether domestic or foreign, can affect profit, as well as affordability. A wise person watches for the best opportunity before purchasing or selling money or foreign goods, to avoid paying more than necessary.

All of that just makes sense but it can get complicated and labor intensive to monitor daily exchange activity and trends. If that’s your full time job, fine. Otherwise, it is a daunting task for people to locate and keep tabs on currency for two different countries. Then of course, the figures need to be compared and converted.

The developers at Limited Securities have created a much simpler solution. It’s called iCurrency Plus. The application is downloaded to a user’s iPhone or iPod Touch, where it sets to work taking care of all the details. The easy, intuitive interface makes operation a snap, while the full list of features offers true flexibility.

With iCurrency Plus, users get the following features:
* Add currency pairs of choice (not only currencies versus the USD)
* See the change in value over a period of time of your choice
* Get notified in the app if this change is larger than a percentage you choose
* The same notification can be sent via push: no other app has this
* See pair details for the period you chose, including min and max value
* See several graphs to check trends: daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly
* Convert prices on the spot, quite useful if you are traveling
* More than 90 currencies used in more than 150 countries
* Intuitive interface, very easy to use
* Currencies can be added per request on the fly, no need to update the application

While all of these functions are great, there is one that stands out from the rest. It is the optional push notification feature. iCurrency Plus is the only application offering this capability, which is indispensable to anyone who is keeping a close eye on exchange rates. Users can be notified of rate variances, predetermined by the user’s choice of percentage spreads.

A user can find out what a foreign object costs in their native currency before deciding if they want to make the purchase, thanks to the handy currency converter in this app. It’s a feature that appeals to business and vacation travelers, alike. Some think of it as an interpreter, only for money rather than language.

Trends are important to a lot of people and this app provides them, along with colorful charts for quick reference. Users get to select the time period that they want to see, whether daily, weekly, monthly or even quarterly. Developers are planning to add the option of seeing yearly trends in the very near future.

This application should prove to be a winner, not just because it saves time, work and money but also because it is so versatile and easy to use. Most currency apps can compare the US dollar with other currencies. iCurrency Plus can compare units from any of the ninety (and counting) currencies from over one hundred countries.

Limited Securities developers encourage users to find iCurrency Plus on sites such as Facebook, Twitter and Wordpress, where they offer free updates and the latest news. Simplicity to the extreme. It’s a beautiful turn of phrase that describes this application perfectly.

Device Requirements:
* iPhone and iPod touch
* Requires iPhone OS 3.0 or later
* 1.8 MB

Pricing and Availability:
iCurrency Plus 1.0.1 is only $1.99 (USD) and available worldwide exclusively through the App Store in the Finance category. Promo codes are available for qualified reviewers. Please specify the website or blog you represent when making your request.
