Increasing demand for silicon across a range of products and supply-chain disruptions from Covid-19 are the main causes of the shortage, according to the people, per those folks. However, Bloomberg notes that despite the shortfall, suppliers are likely to the iPhone 12 “over other customers lining up for scarce parts, said the people.”

Still, the Nikkei Asian Report says that Apple has ordered more than 20 million of the iPhone 11, iPhone SE, and iPhone XR — but not the iPhone 11 Pro or iPhone 11 Pro Max — to combat a shortage of the 5G iPhone 12 range.

The Sellers Research Group (that’s me) thinks Apple has contingency plans that will prevent any major delays in iPhone 12 shipments.
