Claiming to have seen internal images of a late-stage prototype, The Information says a mixed-reality headset Apple is developing will be equipped with more than a dozen cameras for tracking hand movements and showing video of the real world to people wearing it, along with ultra-high-resolution 8K displays and advanced technology for tracking eye-tracking technology.

Furthermore, quoting an unnamed “person with direct knowledge of the device,” the article says the headset will sport a sleek, curved visor attached to a user’s face by a mesh material and swappable headbands. The Information adds that there’ll be multiple ways to control the headset, including a “thimble-like device to be worn on a person’s finger.”

The Apple Glasses (assuming it’s called that) would also be able to respond to the wearer’s eye movements and hand gestures. And one prototype of the headset also had a physical dial on the side of the visor, according to The Information.

The article adds that the headset could ship as early as 2022. But don’t expect it to be inexpensive. According to The Information, “Apple reportedly discussed pricing the device around US$3,000.” Yikes!
