Apple discontinues the standard HomePod to focus on the HomePod mini : Apple World Today

Well, I didn’t see this coming: Apple has discontinued the full-sized HomePod to focus on the USS$99 HomePod mini, reports TechCrunch.

Here’s a statement Apple gave the publication: HomePod mini has been a hit since its debut last fall, offering customers amazing sound, an intelligent assistant, and smart home control all for just $99. We are focusing our efforts on HomePod mini. We are discontinuing the original HomePod, it will continue to be available while supplies last through the Apple Online Store, Apple Retail Stores, and Apple Authorized Resellers. Apple will provide HomePod customers with software updates and service and support through Apple Care.

The original HomePod — introduced in February 2018 — will continue to be available at Apple and other resellers until supply runs out. It will continue to get software updates and support from Apple Care.

The HomePod will be missed by some of us. We have three HomePods our home and the sound is fantastic.
