Apple releases new AirPods Pro 2 beta firmware

AirPods Pro (2nd generation)

Apple has released a new firmware update for the AirPods Pro 2, available for both Lightning and USB-C models. The update, version 7A5290a, introduces several enhancements, including head gesture controls for Siri, enhanced noise cancellation, and personalized spatial audio for gaming.

With head gestures, users can now control Siri by shaking or nodding their head. For example, a shake can decline a call, while a nod can accept it. This feature also extends to responding to messages and notifications.

The new firmware also includes Voice Isolation, which reduces background noise for clearer conversations, and a personalized spatial audio feature specifically designed for gaming. Game developers can now incorporate spatial audio into their games for a more immersive experience.

MacDailyNews Note: While the update is currently available only to developers, it will be rolled out to all iOS 18 users once the public version of the software is released.
