Russian retailers reportedly launch Apple’s iPhone 16, skirting export bans

iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus will be available in five bold colors: black, white, pink, teal, and ultramarine.

Despite Apple’s export ban on Russia, Russian retailers have begun offering pre-sales of the latest iPhone model. Consumers in Russia can now pre-order the device at a significant premium compared to US prices.

Russia’s leading electronics retailer M.Video-Eldorado and mobile network operator MTS both claimed on Thursday to be the first in Russia to unveil Apple’s new iPhone 16.

Apple paused all its product sales in Russia in March 2022 and halted services like ApplePay in response to Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine while Western-imposed sanctions sought to curb technology exports to Russia.

Russians will have to fork out several hundred dollars more than U.S. consumers for the iPhone 16.
