Apple Original Films celebrates the world premiere of ‘Blitz’ at the 2024 BFI London Film Festival and New York Film Festival

This week, Apple Original Films celebrated the world premiere of Steve McQueen’s highly anticipated feature film, “Blitz,” at the 2024 BFI London Film Festival Opening Night Gala at the Royal Festival Hall. Director, writer and producer McQueen was joined by stars Saoirse Ronan, Elliott Heffernan, Harris Dickinson, Benjamin Clementine, Paul Weller, Stephen Graham, Leigh Gill, Mica Ricketts, CJ Beckford, Alex Jennings, Joshua McGuire, Erin Kellyman and Sally Messham, along with producers Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner, Anita Overland, Yariv Milchan and Michael Schaefer. Cinematographer Yorick Le Saux, visual effects supervisor Andrew Whitehurst, costume designer Jacqueline Durran, hair and makeup artist Naomi Donne, casting director Nina Gold and editor Peter Sciberras were also in attendance. Following the London Film Festival, “Blitz” premiered as the Closing Night presentation at the 62nd New York Film Festival. “Blitz” will debut in select theaters November 1, 2024 before premiering globally on Apple TV+ November 22, 2024.

At the New York Film Festival, McQueen was joined by producer Yariv Milchan, production designer Adam Stockhausen, and songwriters Nicholas Britell and Taura Stinson.

Steve McQueen’s “Blitz” follows the epic journey of George (Elliott Heffernan), a 9-year-old boy in World War II London whose mother, Rita (Saoirse Ronan), sends him to safety in the English countryside. George, defiant and determined to return home to his mom and his grandfather, Gerald (Paul Weller), in East London, embarks on an adventure, only to find himself in immense peril, while a distraught Rita searches for her missing son.

Written and directed by Academy and BAFTA Award winner McQueen, the film stars Academy and BAFTA Award nominee Ronan and newcomer Heffernan, with Harris Dickinson, Benjamin Clementine, Kathy Burke, Weller, Stephen Graham, Leigh Gill, Mica Ricketts, CJ Beckford, Alex Jennings, Joshua McGuire, Hayley Squires, Erin Kellyman and Sally Messham rounding out the cast. McQueen’s Lammas Park produces alongside Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner of Working Title Films, Arnon Milchan, Yariv Milchan and Michael Schaefer for New Regency, and producers Anita Overland and Adam Somner.
