Happy New Year!
2024 started with Apple announcing it had again beat the Street with Q124 quarterly revenue of $119.6 billion, up 2 percent year over year, and quarterly earnings per diluted share of $2.18, up 16 percent year over year and ended with Apple shares hovering around $250 for a market value around $3.777 trillion, retaining its rightful title as the world’s most valuable company.
In between, Apple introduced Apple Sports, a new app for sports fans, Vision Pro arriving in Apple Store locations across America, spatial gaming on Apple Arcade for Apple Vision Pro users, the return of “Friday Night Baseball” for the 2024 season on Apple TV+, the new 13- and 15‑inch MacBook Air with the powerful M3 chip, the the redesigned 11‑inch and all‑new 13‑inch iPad Air with M2 and the new iPad Pro with M4 chip and Apple Pencil Pro, and new accessibility features, including Eye Tracking.
Also in 2024, Apple unveiled new versions of Final Cut Pro and Logic Pro, revealed macOS Sequoia, iOS 18, iPadOS 18, tvOS 18, watchOS 11, visionOS 2, and teased Apple Intelligence for iPhone, iPad, and Mac at WWDC in June. Apple Maps on the web launched in beta in July, Apple TV+ scored a record 72 Emmy Award nominations, and the company announced its Chief Financial Officer transition (thanks, Luca!)
During the homestretch of the year, the company introduced AirPods 4 and a hearing health experience with AirPods Pro 2, the black titanium Apple Watch Ultra 2, Apple Watch Series 10, the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max, released macOS Sequoia, iOS 18, iPadOS 18, tvOS 18, watchOS 11, and visionOS 2, debuted the powerful new iPad mini, released the first bits of Apple Intelligence, introduced the new M4 iMac, the all-new M4 Mac mini, the new M4 MacBook Pro, the M4 Pro and M4 Max SoCs, named Billie Eilish as Apple Music’s Artist of the Year for 2024, expanded Apple Retail stores into the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and delivered three new live global radio stations on Apple Music.
