Apple hits the New Year guilt trip with Apple Fitness service improvements

Did you eat all the pies during the holidays? If so, Apple has something for you – if you subscribe to Apple Fitness, that is. What has it got? A range of service improvements including new exercise programs, a collaboration with Strava. And Apple Watch users can earn a limited-edition award when they close all three Activity rings for seven days in a row in January.

So, what’s new in Fitness?

The big news is introduction of a progressive strength training program and a conditioning program for pickleball. There’s also new workshop-style yoga, dance, and breath meditation programs, along with new Time to Walk sessions. The new content hits the service starting Jan 6, 2025.

Fitness+ is also collaborating with Strava to bring a new integration to the Strava app experience, along with a special 3-month Fitness+ trial offer for Strava subscribers. This means  when members share a Fitness+ workout to Strava, the Strava app will now display rich details — including the episode image, episode number, music genre, trainer name, and metrics — to track their fitness journey.

Give me strength

The strength program consists of a 3-week program that targets every major muscle group with 12 30-minute workouts. It has been designed to be a foundational fitness routine.

Yoga for the people

Yoga Peak Poses brings an intimate workshop-style experience directly to users wherever they are, with an attention to form and education typically found in a one-on-one session. Each 20-minute session spotlights a single peak pose.

Breathe back better

The new Introduction to Breath Meditation program teaches techniques for managing stress, boosting energy, and enhancing focus. Users can choose from five 10-minute meditations.
