Mac sales grew 1.3% year-over-year as of quarter four of 2024
The global personal computer (PC) market had a 3.7% year-over-year (YoY) shipment growth in quarter four (Q4) 2024, according to Counterpoint Research.
Lenovo continued to lead the worldwide PC market in 2024 with 4.6% growth, followed by HP, Dell and Apple. Apple sold 22.6 million Macs in the first quarter of 2024 compared to sales of 22.3 million in the first quarter of 2023 for annual growth of 1.3%.
“Lenovo, Asus and Acer showed healthy growth above the market average. HP saw flattish growth, while Apple grew modestly after a weak first half offset by the launch of the new MacBook Pro in the year-end,” says Counterpoint Research. “Dell had a tough year with little activity on the enterprise side. We expect 2025 to be a good year for PC brands as the commercial markets increase their orders as a result of the sunset of Windows 10 and the increased model offerings for AI PCs.”
For the full year of 2024, PC vendors shipped 253 million PCs, up 2.6% from 2023, according to the research group.
