Yes, Apple’s Vision Pro has a future in the enterprise

0

Apple is about to put artificial intelligence inside Vision Pro devices, and while the significance of this may not be immediately obvious it will transform these things when it does.

It’s a wide open secret that Apple is pouring all of its resources into AI innovation, and with Apple Intelligence now available across iPhones, iPads, and Macs, it makes sense that the company will introduce it to visionOS devices, which it is now expected to do.

Eyewear AI

Some of the best Apple Intelligence tools will transform productive use of the device – Writing Tools will make it much easier to draft emails, messages, or reports while using voice and gesture.

Intelligent notifications and, when it appears, contextual Siri applications also promise to support the user interface, turning vision space into an even more productive space. That space will amplify the device’s existing support for the multitude of emerging enterprise use cases that Vision Pro is experiencing.

That, at least, is the promise of visionOS as Apple Intelligence is introduced.

Private AI

Later, as Apple expands the number of third-party AI services that can be supported from within Apple Intelligence, you should see wider enterprise adoption of those services.

Many enterprises won’t use OpenAI, because they prefer highly private sovereign data-driven AI services. Apple must eventually offer up sone way for visionOS to support that choice, and given this is surely only an API away, I believe it eventually will.

That will of course extend to device management support to ensure only those services business admins approve will be available in these devices.

Coming soon to visionOS

But what we will see in the next visionOS update really promises to enhance the product’s value to enterprise users.

visionOS 2.4 will deliver the following improvements:

Apple Intelligence support, including Writing Tools, Genmojis Image Playground.
A new Guest Mode, so others can use the same headset.
A new app for Vision Pro to help people watch spatial content.
Apple today also released a new immersive arctic surfing video to watch within vision OS.

While the consumer improvements seem fun, the key enhancements of writing tools and a guest mode will help make Vision Pro an even more effective enterprise tool, I believe.
