Apple Music launches new ‘Viral Chart’ made up of top Shazam searches

Apple is launching a new global Viral Chart playlist in Apple Music that consists of tracks people are finding through the company’s Shazam service.

Shazam is an application that can identify music based on a short sample played using the microphone on the device. It was created by the British company Shazam Entertainment and has been owned by Apple since 2018. The software is available for macOS, iOS, watchOS, Android, Wear OS, and as a Google Chrome extension.

Forget everything you thought you knew about viral music. Shazam’s new Viral Chart playlist doesn’t just track TikTok hits — it captures the full spectrum of songs blowing up right now, whether through streaming, socials, TV placements, or that random 2004 banger suddenly resurfacing at bars and baseball games. Here, you’ll find today’s fastest-growing sounds from around the world, identified by millions of curious listeners frantically hitting that Shazam button. Check back every day for updates. – Apple Music
