Rhys Ifans cast in ‘Star City,’ spinoff of Apple TV+ hit series ‘For All Mankind’
“For All Mankind” will return for a fifth season, expected this year, alongside new spinoff series “Star City” on Apple TV+.
Variety reports that Rhys Ifans has been selected as the first cast member for the new Apple TV+ series titled “Star City,” which is a spinoff of “For All Mankind.”
“Star City” was originally announced in April 2024 alongside the news that “For All Mankind” would be back for a fifth season. As previously reported, the series will tell the story the alternative history of the space race like “For All Mankind,” but this time from the Soviet Union perspective.
The official description for the show describes it as “a propulsive, paranoid thriller that takes us back to the key moment in the alt-history retelling of the space race – when the Soviet Union became the first nation to put a man on the moon. But this time, we explore the story from behind the Iron Curtain, showing the lives of the cosmonauts, the engineers, and the intelligence officers embedded among them in the Soviet space program, and the risks they all took to propel humanity forward.”
Ifans will star as the Chief Designer, who is described as “the driving force behind the Soviet Space program.”
