Luxshare looking to quick start production of iPhone 12 minis — Apple World Today

Luxshare has purportedly been in talks with Catcher Technology, the world’s second-largest metal casing provider, for more than a year. The deal, if finalized, would give Luxshare the ability to produce high-quality metal casing as well as access to smartphone assembly knowledge, which would take it a step closer to becoming the Chinese version of Foxconn, one of Apple’s major manufacturing partners.

Luxhare, one of the main assemblers of Apple’s AirPods, bought Wistron’s iPhone assembly plant in Kunshan, China, for 3.3 billion yuan (about $499 million) in July to strengthen its ties with Apple and challenge Foxconn, adds Nikkei Asia. The transaction is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
