Update (Nov. 16, 2023): The Washnington Post reports that a federal jury Thursday found David DePape guilty on charges of kidnapping and assaulting a federal official’s immediate family member, after roughly eight hours of deliberation earlier this week. The jurors were apparently not receptive to DePape’s mitigation defense, which rested on the argument that his attack was not specifically made “with intent to retaliate against [Pelosi] because of her job performance.”

DePape could face up to 50 years in prison for the crimes, and could also stand trial under additional state charges including attempted murder and false imprisonment.
