Mints and Cirrus updated for Sonoma’s iCloud Drive logs

At the heart of major changes in iCloud Drive in macOS Sonoma is its management as a File Provider service. This is reflected in the log, where CloudDocs, which had previously been central to its entries there, has been largely replaced by FileProvider. If you have tried to read the log using the ready-made features in either Mints or Cirrus, this has rendered them almost useless. In my recent exploration of what happens in iCloud Drive in macOS 14, this required me to manually merge those log entries with others obtained separately using Ulbow, a tedious process for even short log excerpts.

I have at last updated both Cirrus and Mints so that they collect log entries for com.apple.FileProvider instead of com.apple.clouddocs when used in Sonoma, and am delighted to offer both new versions here.

When used on Ventura or earlier, Mints and Cirrus should continue to collect entries for com.apple.clouddocs and show them when their CloudDocs item is selected. Run either of these new versions on Sonoma, though, and you’ll get entries from com.apple.FileProvider instead.

Mints version 1.19 is now available from here: mints119
from Downloads above, from its Product Page, and via its auto-update mechanism.

Cirrus version 1.14 is now available from here: cirrus114
from Downloads above, from its Product Page, and via its auto-update mechanism.

I hope you find these changes revelatory.
