With macOS 15 Sequoia on the horizon, Apple hasn’t forgotten about Sonoma. The official version of macOS 14.6 is now available. Here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming update.

macOS 14.6: New features

Sonoma 14.6 includes a new feature for M3 MacBook Pro owners: the ability to run two displays while in clamshell mode. The feature is similar to that of the M3 MacBook Air.

Apple has a complete list of the macOS Sonoma 14.6 security updates available online.

macOS 14.6: How to install

Before installing the update, it’s a good idea to back up your Mac first. You need an internet connection and your Mac will need to restart to finish the installation.

Open System Settings > General > Software Updates.

Under the Available Updates section, you may see macOS Sonoma 14.6. If not, check back later.

In the Beta Updates section, if you have any of the options on, you won’t see the 14.6 update. Click on the “i” icon to turn off Beta Updates.
